Bio

BOONEVILLE – Bobby Joe Johnson, 71, died Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2009, at Magnolia Regional Health Center. He was born Jan. 31, 1938, to Olen and Selma Bullard Johnson. He was retired from Intex Plastics and a member of Mt. Nebo United Methodist Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a former member of the Mississippi Army National Guard. He loved to hunt and fish, and spend time with his "special" children. Services were Friday, Nov. 20, at the McMillan Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ruth Wood, Bro. Larry Hamlin, the Rev. W.L. Wallace Jr., the Rev. Steve Pannell and Bro. Ray Hall officiating. Burial was in the Booneville Cemetery. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Shirley Sanders Johnson; one sister, Billie Johnson Hamlin of Drummonds, Tenn.; two grandchildren, Caitlyn Miller and Christian Miller; eight sisters-in-law; 10 brothers-in-law; a host of nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Claude Crabb. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Todd Johnson; three sisters, Marie Wilemon, Molly Greenhill and Lola Mae Egnew; two brothers, Houston "Buster" Johnson and L.O. Johnson; his father-in-law, John (Odie) Sanders; his mother-in-law, Mattie B. Floyd Sanders; and a special aunt, Edna Massey. Pallbearers were his nephews. Honorary pallbearers were Shirley's nephews.
