Bio
She was born Anna Bess Slater on June 9, 1931 in Nolan County, Texas to Helen Elizabeth Stamps Slater of Texas, 1909 to 1976 and Benjamin Vachel Slater of Texas, 1905 to 1981. Anna Bess married Gordon A. Messall, son of August and Louise Messall on March 21, 1951 in Lovington, Lea County, New Mexico. After Gordon's discharge from military service in 1953, they made their home in Lubbock, Lubbock County, Texas, where they still resided at the time of her death on New Year's Day, 1997. Anna Bess was preceded in death by her mother and father. She was survived by her husband, Gordon; son, Ronald Gordon Messall; daughter, Linda Messall Lowrance and her husband Michael Lowrance; daughter, Karen Messall Hyatt; grandchildren, Chad Lowrance, Lisa Ann Lowrance, Tricia Hyatt and Chris Hyatt; a large extended Slater/Stamps family and many friends.
