Helen Elizabeth Stamps was born on August 24, 1909 in Dunn, Scurry County, Texas to Benjamin Jackson Stamps and Bessie Olena Harpole Stamps . On December 23, 1925, she and Benjamin Vachel Slater, son of Daniel Boone Slater and Nannie Elizabeth Bell Slater of Roscoe, Texas were married. (License secured in Nolan County, Texas December 22, 1925.) Born of this marital union was one daughter. Anna Bess Slater (Messall) , b: June 9, 1931 in Texas; d: January 1, 1997 in Texas. Helen died in 1976 of injuries sustained in a fire at home in Lubbock, Lubbock County, Texas and was interred in Rest Haven Cemetery in Lubbock. She was survived by her husband, Benjamin Vachel Slater, daughter, Anna Bess Slater Messall and son-in-law, Gordon A. Messall and three grandchildren (living).
