Anita Ruth Hollabaugh Carter, 84, passed away quietly early Friday morning, February 8, 2013 in Ennis, Texas. Anita was born near Midlothian, Texas on July 16, 1928 to EB "Bertie" and Ellie (Bearden) Hollabaugh. She grew up on the family farm south of Midlothian and graduated from Midlothian High School. After she and James E. "Billie" Carter married they made their home first in Waxahachie and then in Ennis. She worked as a sewing machine operator for over fifteen years. She was a active member of both the First United Methodist Church and the Rebekah Lodge. She enjoyed sewing, reading and working word search puzzles. She spent a number of her later years residing happily at the Odd Fellow & Rebekah Retirement Center & Nursing Home of Ennis. She is survived by a sister, sister-in-law, brother-in-law and numerous nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her son, James E. Carter, Jr., five brothers and two sisters all linked to this memorial.
