Funeral for Clifford "C. O." Varnell, 65, of Rt. 5 Athens, will be today at McConnell Funeral Home with burial in Roselawn Cemetery. Mr. Varnell died Wednesday at the Huntsville Hospital. He was a retired mail carrier and served in the US Navy in World War II. He is survived by his wife, Polly Varnell; a daughter, Joyce Ann Varnell of Athens; a son, Joe Varnell of Washington; a brother, Frank Varnell of Athens; a sister, Ernestine Arrington of Virginia; and one grandchild. (Published Decatur Daily, Decatur, AL, Friday, Jan. 21, 1983) Married Almeda Pauline Wilkes in October 1940, Limestone Co, AL.
