An Obituary from "Gatesville Messenger & Star Forum", Thursday, February 20, 1992: Mrs. Willie D. (Bill) Rhoades of Gatesville died here Monday. She was 81. Services were held Wednesday at Live Oak Baptist Church with Rev. John Carroll officiating. Burial was in Restland Cemetery under the direction of Scott's Funeral Home. She was born September 6,1910, in Sierra Blanco, daughter of the late William J. and Drew King. She was reared and attended school in Pecos. She married Mr. Jake Nelson Rhoades June 3,1944. They resided in Gatesville most of their married life. Mrs. Rhoades was preceded in death by her husband, and a daughter, Darlene Schuman. She was a homemaker and a member of Live Oak Baptist Church. Survivors include six sons, Russell Rhoades and Kenneth Rhoades, both of Gatesville, Ernest Moore of Midland, Terry Rhoades of Grapevine, Billy Joe Rhoades of Belfaire, Washington, and Clayton Rhoades; a brother, Dody King of Alaska; 18 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Deacons of Live Oak Baptist Church served as pallbearers. Memorials may be made to Live Oak Baptist Church.
