Thanks to contributor #47028758 RUDOLPH J. RITTER, 75, RETIRED FARMER, DIES AFTER STROKE Rudolph J. Ritter, 75, retired farmer of 1718 F., died here at 1:30 p.m. Sunday. He had suffered a stroke two months ago. A native of Dusseldorf, Germany, he came to the United States January 1, 1885, and farmed near Pleasanton before retiring and moving to Kearney seven years ago. Surviving are his wife (Anna Hoffman Ritter), three children, Charles of Poole, Rudolph Jr. of Hastings, and Mrs. Olive Gruhn of Grand Island, and seven grandchildren. The body was taken to the Anderson funeral home to await the rites, which probably will be Wednesday. Kearney Daily Hub, March 29, 1943, page 1 (Rudolph Ritter Sr. stated on homestead records (1886) that his family came here in December of 1884.)
