Donalea Wells Smith, 87, passed away Thursday, Nov. 19, 2009. Funeral: 3:30 p.m. Tuesday in Greenwood Chapel. Interment: Greenwood Memorial Park. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Greenwood Funeral Home. Pallbearers: Anthony Sosa, David Sosa, Richard Herrera, Topper Sowden, John Hinton and Tony Smith. Honorary pallbearers: C.D. Sealy and Harry Dossin. Donalea was born March 29, 1922, in Fort Worth. She married Leonard Smith on Feb. 7, 1942. They were married 48 years until his death in 1989. She was a beautiful woman and modeled at the Texas Hotel in the 1940s. Donalea loved animals, antiques, cooking, entertaining, dancing and laughing. She was a caregiver for her family, whom she loved dearly. Donalea was a member of First Congregational Church of Fort Worth, Junior Women's Club, the Elks Club and a volunteer driver for Road to Recovery with the American Cancer Society . Donalea was a beloved mother, grandmother and aunt, and a dear, loyal friend to many. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Smith; parents, Donald and Alba Wells; sister, Elizabeth Leddon; and brother, J.D. Wells. Survivors: Daughters, Darlyne Lapham and husband, Dickie, and Terri Herrera and husband, Reuben; grandchildren, Jennifer Lapham, Anthony Sosa and David Sosa; nieces, Dona Leeman, Martha Wells and Christi Lea; nephew, Jim Wells; and dear friends, Ed Windom, C.D. and Jo Sealy.
