Mrs. Louis V. (Mathilda) Sykora, age 79, of Penelope died Sunday, June 21, 1987 at a relative's home in West. Rosary was recited at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the Catholic Church of Nativity B.V.M. in Penelope, by Rev. Bill Spong. Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Catholic Church of Nativity B.V.M. with Rev. Bill Spong as celebrant. Burial followed in St. Mary's Cemetery, West. Mrs. Sykora was born October 17, 1907 in Tours and had lived in the Penelope area all of her life. She was a member of the Catholic Church of Nativity B.V.M. in Penelope. She was president of the K.J.Z.T. Society #35 for 30 years. She belonged to the Altar Society and the Catholic Daughters of America #829 of West. She married Louis V. Sykora of West October 16, 1928 in Penelope. Survivors include her husband; three sons, Edmund Sykora of West and Alvin and Harry Sykora, both of Waco; four brothers, Eddie Knapek of Corpus Christi, John Knapek of Dallas, Ben Knapek of Penelope and Raymond Knapek of Axtell; five sisters, Mrs. Joe (Mary) Bartosh of Penelope, Mrs. Willie (Nora) Holacka of West, Mrs. John (Christine) Sykora of Dallas, Mrs. Willie (Albina) Kubala of Hillsboro and Mrs. Ernest (Olga) Hutyra of West; 19 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Michael Sykora, Ronnie Sykora, Kenneth Sykora, Patrick Sykora, Larry Sykora, Brian Sykora, David Sykora and Dennis Sykora. Honorary pallbearers were Catholic Daughters of America #429 and K.J.Z.T. Society #35. Kotch Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
