Bio

Ladin J. Svrcek, 81, of West, a retired farmer and mechanic, died Wednesday, July 20, at a local nursing home. Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Msgr. George Doskocil as celebrant. Burial was at St. Mary's Cemetery. Rosary was recited at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Kotch Funeral Home Chapel. Mr. Svrcek was born May 31, 1902, in West and was a lifelong area resident. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and K.J.T. Society No. 31. He was married to Adela Marek in 1924. Survivors include his wife; a son, Ernest Svrcek of West; three daughters, Mrs. Robert (Martha) Prasifka and Mrs. William (Christine) Grellhesl, both of West, and Mrs. Joe (Mary Ann) Hlavenka of Allen; six brothers, the Rev. V.A. Svrcek and Clement Svrcek, both of Northcrest, Joe Svrcek of Corsicana and Ivan Svrcek, Elo Svrcek and Cyril Svrcek, all of West; a sister, Alice Svrcek of West; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Richard Grellhesl, Charles Svrcek, Tommy Svrcek, Joe Hlavenka, Mark Hlavenka, Mike Prasifka, Johnny Grellhesl.
