Helen Ann Svacek, age 73 of West, passed away March 8, 1999 at her residence. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. March 13 at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West, with Rev. Ed Karasek as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery near West. Mrs. Svacek was born on April 25, 1925 in Ross, the daughter of Louis and Hattie Sykora. She married Arnold Anton Svacek on April 15, 1946 in Waco. He preceded her in death on July 21, 1996. Helen worked as a cashier and hostess for the Austins Restaurant in Dallas for several years until she retired in 1976. She was a member of V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary Post No. 4819 in West and Post No. 4477 in Dallas; Dallas Veterans Administration Hospital Auxiliary and Disabled American Veterans Ladies Auxiliary in Dallas. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West. She is survived by one sister, Dorothy Wiebusch of West; three nephews, Danny Kohl and wife Joallen of McGregor, Paul Svacek and wife Linda of Stephenville and Robert Svacek of Waco; five nieces, Jo Ann Williams and husband Keith of Waxahachie, Georgia Storrs and husband Ronni of Waco, Barbara Poe and husband Tony of Hewitt, Dina McCormick of Tuscumbia, Alabama, Pauline Sterne and husband Al of Panama City, Florida, and several great nieces and nephews. Pallbearers are Mark Keith Williams, Michael Wade Williams, Danny Kohl, Harry Lee Svacek, Jr., Gary Kofnovec and George Nesrsta. The family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. March 12 at the funeral home. Aderhold Funeral Home in West is in charge of arrangements.
