Requiem Mass For Albin Sulak Held Wednesday Requiem mass for Albin R. Sulak was celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption of West, with Rev. Oliver Johnson as celebrant. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery. Rosary was recited at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Kotch Funeral Home Chapel. Mr. Sulak, 54, was senior sanitarian with the Waco-McLennan County Health Unit and long a leader in this area's efforts against air and water pollution. He was dead on arrival at a Waco hospital Monday morning after he collapsed in his office. Mr. Sulak had suffered a seizure about 10 days ago and had been hospitalized at that time. He returned to work last Friday. Mr. Sulak had been with the city-county health unit since the early 1940s. His job as sanitarian included work with nursing homes and restaurants in this area. He became concerned about the threat of air and water pollution many years before the pollution problem gained wide recognition. He was in charge of the health unit's work with air pollution, which involved maintenance of air testing equipment on the roof of city hall. Mr. Sulak was active in the Texas Association of Sanitarians and the Central Texas Tuberculosis and Respiratory Disease Association. He also worked in respiratory disease efforts on the county level before the Centex TB and RD organization was established two years ago. He was born in Waco, but had lived at West for 47 years. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption and SPJST Lodge No. 54. Mr. Sulak was a member and past grand knight of Knights of Columbus Council 2305 of West. He was a past deputy for District 32 of the Texas Knights of Columbus. Survivors are his wife, Josephine: two daughters, Mrs. Roger (Patricia) Kolar of Pineville, La., and Miss Jane Sulak of West; three sons, Albin Sulak, Jr., of Houston, Michael Sulak of Austin, and Timothy Sulak of West; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. R.R. Sulak of West; one sister, Mrs. Robert (Mary) Shebesta of West; one grandchild, and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Joe English, Bill Devers, Tony Sulak, Ollie Horsak, Albin Dvoracek, and Joey Shebesta. The West News, West, Texas, Volume 79, No. 47, Edition 1, Friday, March 13, 1970, page 1.
