Pioneer West Woman Claimed By Death Mrs. Anna Smajstrla, age 80, passed away in a Waco hospital, Sunday, June 6th. Funeral services were held from the residence at 9 a.m. and at the Catholic Church at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 8, 19434, Rev. E.J. Polcak officiating. Interment was at the Catholic cemetery. Born in Czechoslovakia, Mrs. Smajstrla came to the United States and this community 60 years ago. During the 60 years spent here, 39 years were on a farm near West, the past 21 years as a resident of this city. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Rud. Nemecek; three sons, Frank of Amarillo, Henry of Woodsboro, and Eddie Smajstrla of West; two sisters, Mrs. C. Jares of SanAntonio and Mrs. Johanna Chada of West. Pallbearers were Alfons Grimm, Herman Grimm, Freddy Grimm, Frank Lichnovsky, Chas. Smajstrla, and Joe Urbis.
