Lawrence A. Schutza, age 69 of West, passed away Wednesday night, August 25, 1993 in West Community Hospital. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated 10:30 a.m. Saturday in St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West, with Rev. Ed Karasek as celebrant. Military graveside services followed in St. Mary's Cemetery in West and was conducted by West V.F.W. Post #4819. Mr. Schutza was born August 4, 1924 in Ross and lived at Ross until entering the Army in 1943. He was wounded in action and received the Purple Heart during World War II. He was a life member of V.F.W. Post #4819 of West, a member of the Disabled American Veterans and a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West. He married Helen Hutyra, October 15, 1946 in Waco. He is survived by his wife, Helen of West; two brothers, Gene Schutza of Robinson and Al Schutza of Greensboro, North Carolina; three sisters, Doris Martin of Ft. Worth, Carol Snider of Waco and Shirley Hooper of Austin. He is also survived by his step-mother, Flora Schutza of Waco and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Henry (Hambone) Snokhous, Eddie Janek, Johnny Girard, Tommy Gerik, Bill Klaus and Stephan Randles. Kotch Funeral Home in West was in charge of arrangements.
