John F. Parma, age 77, of West, passed away Monday afternoon, February 14, 1994 in West Rest Haven. Rosary was recited at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West, with Rev. Ed Karasek as celebrant. Military Graveside Rites followed in St. Mary's Cemetery, West. Mr. Parma was born December 10, 1916 near West and had lived in the West area all of his life. He was a retired farmer and a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West, S.P.J.S.T. Lodge No. 6 of Cottonwood, the K.J.T. Society No. 31 of West and was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Pacific Theater and a member of V.F.W. Post No. 4819 of West. He married Viola Gerik, November 19, 1946 at West. She preceded him in death on January 12, 1988. Survivors include two sons, Michael J. Parma and Gary M. Parma, both of West; one daughter, Georgie Parma of West; two sisters, Mrs. F.J. (Mary) Helona of Abbott and Mrs. John R. (Lillie) Kofnovec of Bellmead; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were James Parma, Ray Parma, Raymond Helona, Ernest Soukup, Arthur Dudik and Raymond Marek, Jr. Kotch Funeral Home in West was in charge of arrangements.
