Joe Mynar Jr., age 85 of Abbott, passed away January 17, 1999 at Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center in West. A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. January 18 at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10 a.m. January 19 at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Abbott, with Rev. Jerry Ryan, O.S.A. as celebrant. Burial followed at St. Mary's Cemetery Near West. Mr. Mynar was born June 13, 1913 near Cottonwood, the son of John and Rosie Mynar. He married Agnes Snapka on November 10, 1936 in West. She preceded him in death on September 19, 1996. He was a farmer in Hill County for most of his life. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus No. 2305 and S.P.J.S.T. No. 54, both in West. He was a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Abbott. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and playing dominos with family and friends. He is also preceded in death by four sisters and one brother. He is survived by five sons, Alvin Mynar of Austin, William Mynar of Carrollton, Joe Lynn Mynar of Brazos Point, Patrick Mynar of Waco and Fred Mynar of Martindale; six daughters, Evelyn Derrick of Coppell, Martha McCaslin of Rhome, Helen Grellhesl and Cindy Grones of Waco, Virginia Mynar of Dallas and Carol Baldwin of West; two brothers, Ben Mynar of Abbott and Felix Mynar of Tours; three sisters, Hattie Kramer of San Diego, California, Mary Mikuda of Penelope, and Adele Sembera of West; 15 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were George Mikuda, E.J. Bartosh, Bennie Mynar, Brian Mynar, David Dybala and Tommy Straten. Aderhold Funeral Home in West was in charge of arrangements.
