Frankie J. Muehlstein, age 85 of West, passed away Friday afternoon, December 29, 2000 at his residence. Rosary was recited 1 p.m. Sunday by Deacon Buddy Shields in St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated 1:15 p.m. Sunday in St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption, with the Rev. Ed Karasek as celebrant. Burial followed in St. Mary's Cemetery in West. The family received visitors from 6 p.m. til 8:30 p.m. Saturday at Kotch Funeral Home. Mr. Muehlstein was born October 16, 1915 in Stamford, Texas. He grew up in Jones County and attended schools in New Hope. He moved to Itasca in 1948 and then to the Chatt community in 1953 and had been a resident of West since 1985. He was a retired farmer and rancher, member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West, where he served as an usher. He was an Honorary Life Member of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 2305 for 59 years, member of K.J.T. Society No. 31 of West and a member of the S.P.J.S.T. Lodge No. 66 of Linden Hall. He was instrumental in starting the Chatt Water Supply and served as its president for a number of years. He was a member and past president of the Abbott Farm Bureau and he was a director of the West Fraternal and was its purchasing agent for a number of years. He married Elenora Machovsky June 25, 1940 in West. He was preceded in death by one brother, four sisters and one grandson, Jeremy Caldwell. Mr. Muehlstein is survived by his wife, Elenora of West; two sons, Frankie Muehlstein, Jr. and his wife Barbara of China Spring and Patrick Muehlstein and his wife Jackie of Longview; four daughters, Rita Pustejovsky and her husband Erwin of Combine, Mary K. Marusak and her husband George of Georgetown, Betty Harris of West and Janice Caldwell and her husband Jerry of Temple; two brothers, Ed Muehlstein of Hillsboro and Johnny Muehlstein and his wife Evelyn of West; 17 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Active Pallbearers were Erwin Pustejovsky, Jr., David Muehlstein, Kevin Muehlstein, Eric Muehlstein, Jacob Muehlstein and Ben Bowers. Kotch Funeral Home in West was in charge of arrangements.
