Bio

Mrs. Frank (Hattie) Matus, age 100, of 300 Haven in West, formerly of Rt. 1, West, passed away Tuesday night, October 8, 1991 in West Rest Haven. Rosary was recited by Msgr. George Doskocil at 8 p.m. Wednesday in Kotch Funeral Home Chapel. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Mary's Catholic Church, with Rev. Ed Karasek as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, West. Mrs. Matus was born December 18, 1890 in Czechoslovakia and had moved to the United States in 1908 at the age of 18. She moved to the West area in 1908. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of West and the K.J.Z.T. Society #11 of West. Mrs. Matus married Frank Matus January 23, 1923 in West. He preceded her in death June 1, 1986. She is survived by one son, Otto Matus of Bellmead; one daughters, Mrs. Henry (Hattie) Kolar of West; seven grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Roger Kolar, David Kolar, Ervin Laubert, Willie Rejcek, Dennis Macha and Jerry Kaenzig. The West News, West, Texas, Volume 101. No. 41, Edition 1, Thursday, October 10, 1991, page 5.
