Mrs. Joe (Lillian) Makovy, 75, of 300 Haven died July 28, 1987 in West Rest Haven. Rosary was recited at 7:30 p.m. July 30 at Kotch Funeral Home Chapel in West. Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at 10 a.m. July 31 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in West, the Rev. Walter Matus as celebrant. Burial followed in St. Mary's Cemetery in West. Mrs. Makovy was born May 2, 1912 and was a longtime Abbott resident and lived the past nine years in West. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and KJZT Society No. 104 in Abbott. She was married to Joe Makovy July 8, 1931; he died September 10, 1982. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Marvin (Helen) Matus and Mary Ann Ward, both of Dallas; two brothers, Stanley Helona of West and Willie Helona of Abbott; five sisters, Mrs. Joe (Mary) Mach, Mrs. Raymond (Helen) Kubacak and Polly Helona, all of West, Mrs. Frank (Georgia) Kofnovec of Abbott and Mrs. James R. (Frances) Baker of Duncanville; and five grandchildren. Pallbearers were Richard Matus, Michael Matus, Gregory Matus, John David Kubala, Michael Mach and Joe Mach.
