Jerome Lednicky Sr. Dies at Age 76 Jerome J. Lednicky, Sr., age 76, of 412 N. Main in West, passed away early Monday morning (September 16), at Providence Hospital in Waco. Mr. Lednicky was born June 24, 1909 in the Cottonwood Community of McLennan County to Frank and Josephine Lednicky. He resided in Oklahoma from 1912 to 1920 before returning to the West area. He graduated from West High School in 1925, then graduated from Toby's Business College in Waco. He married Agnes Jaska in West on May 16, 1934. He began work at the State National Bank of West that same year, serving there for 51 years most recently as Chairman of the Board of Directors until his death. He was a licensed public accountant. Mr. Lednicky was on the organizing committee for the West Rodeo Association, the steering committee for McLennan Community College, served on the Board of Directors of the West Independent School District as president prior to his retiring, and also served as a member on the St. Mary's School Board. He was a member of the West K.J.T. 31, the West Knights of Columbus 2305, where he served as Past Grand Knight, and a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption where he served as a parish board member. He is survived by his wife, Agnes of West; four sons, Jerome J. Lednicky, Jr. of West, Edward F. Lednicky of Clear Lake, Bernard Lednicky of Hobbs, and Joseph Lednicky of West; three daughters, Mrs. Dan (Elizabeth) Schiller of Brenham, Mrs. David (Patricia) Patton of Garland, and Mrs. Jack (Agnes) Inman of Aloha, Oregon; two brothers, Henry Lednicky of West and Ben Lednicky of Brownwood; two sisters, Mrs. Alice Jares of Universal City and Mrs. Rosalie Murphy of Cerritos, California; 25 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Rosary was recited at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, September 17, at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption by Msgr. George Doskocil. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption with Msgr. B. Zientek as celebrant. Burial followed in St. Mary's Cemetery.
