Funeral Services Held Tuesday For Joseph Kotrla Joseph Kotrla died at 8:45 p.m. Sunday in a Waco hospital. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 18 in St. Mary's Catholic Church of Assumption in West, Msgr. I.J. Valenta officiated. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery. Rosary was recited at 7:30 p.m. Monday in Kotch Funeral Home Chapel. Mr. Kotrla was born in Czechoslovakia and came to this country when he was six years old, settling in Fayette County. He lived there for 15 years and moved to West, where he had lived for the past 62 years. He was a retired farmer. He married Miss Johanna Bezdek of West on August 26, 1906. She died in 1960. He was a member of St. Mary's Church of Assumption, the KJT Lodge, and the K.D. Survivors include a son, Arnold Kotrla of West; a daughter, Mrs. Eddie Hlavaty of West; three grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Bernard Hlavaty of Arlington, Lawrence Hlavaty of Bellmead, Jerry Kucera, Pete Sykora, Joe Sulak, and Ernest Matustik, all of West.
