Christine Hanzelka, age 81 of West died Monday morning, March 13, 2000 in West Rest Haven. Rosary was recited at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:15 a.m. with Rev. Ed Karasek as celebrant. Burial followed in St. Mary's Cemetery in West. Miss Hanzelka was born January 22, 1919 at Cottonwood, daughter of Joseph Hanzelka and Marie Foitek Hanzelka and had lived in Waco, West, Penelope area all of her life. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of West, and the KJZT Society #11 and had worked as a housekeeper for Father Hruby in Penelope for a number of years before her retirement. She is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Raymond and Jimmy Hanzelka and one sister, Lillian Traywick. Survivors include three sisters, Lois Rejcek of West, Martha Snapka of Irving and Dorothy Holacka of Austin and several nieces and nephews. Active Pallbearers were Edward Traywick, Anthony Rejcek, Donald Holacka, Joseph Hanzelka, Jimmy Hanzelka and Patrick Snapka. Kotch Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
