Bio

Robert Gerlich, Sr., age 73, died at his home at Axtell, Wednesday, Oct. 5 at 6 a.m. Funeral services were held at the Catholic church at Elk at 9 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, and at the Catholic cemetery, West, at 10:30 a.m., Rev. Romer of Waco and Rev. E.J. Polcak of this city officiating. Mr. Gerlich was born in Czechoslovakia, moving to the United States at the age of 18. He had resided in the Elk community for a number of years. Survivors are 3 daughters, Mrs. J.A. Podsednik, Mt. Calm, Mrs. D.C. Walters, Calif., Miss Henrietta Gerlich, Calif.; 6 sons, Emil, Waco, Robert, Jr., New York, Henry, Abbott, Eugene, West, August, Ennis, Daniel, Calif.; 1 sister and one brother in Czechoslovakia; 26 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
