Former West Man Dies at Hillsboro Walter J. Barak, 44, passed away at Hillsboro on Saturday of last week following an attack of pneumonia. Funeral services were held from Aderhold Funeral Home at 9:30 a.m. and at the Catholic church at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Father E. J. Polcak, officiating. Interment was in the Catholic cemetery. Mr. Barak was born in Czechoslovakia, coming to this country when an infant. He lived in this community for a number of years before moving to Hillsboro. Surviving are his widow; two sons, Lawrence, with the U. S. Navy, and Gerald, of Hillsboro; a daughter, Virginia, also of Hillsboro; his mother, Mrs. Rosie Barak of West; 8 sisters, Mrs. Agnes Jansky and Mrs. Marie Krizan of West; Mrs. Rosie Bacak, Jourdantown, Mrs. Annie Polansky, Axtell, Mrs. Gracie Filer, Galveston, Mrs. Ellen Novak, Oklahoma City, Mrs. Ethel Phelan, Philadelphia, and Mrs. Jewell Podsednik, Dallas. The West News, Vol. 53, No. 35. Ed. 1, Friday, January 22, 1943 Note: His wife passed away the following Thursday.
