Bio

Mr. Jodie George Nekuza, 74, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 11, 2006, after a ten year, valiant fight against the complications of a stroke. He was born March 3, 1932 in Ennis, the son of Joe L. and Annie A. Patak Nekuza. He was a member of St. John Catholic Church and in his younger days, an active supporter of St. John School. Jodie had two lifelong careers, custom builder and farmer. Many homes and commercial building in Ennis and the surrounding areas show his pride in workmanship. His involvement in many local organizations such as the KJT, KJZT, Sokol, SPJST, WFLA and Knights of Columbus and his love of deer hunting and fishing, kept him close to his many friends and relatives. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Geraldine; his two daughters and their husbands, Cindy and Gordy Brown of Austin, Gina and Mike Roberts of Houston; five grandchildren, Whitney and Jordan Brown of Austin, Meredith, Allison and Will Roberts of Houston; a sister, Annie Salik of Ennis; as well as several nieces and nephews. Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Monday in the Keever Chapel. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday in St. John Catholic Church with Rev. Joseph Hybner, the state chaplain of the KJZT, as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Josephs Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be his sons-in-law, grandsons and Larry T. Valek and Matthew Valek. Honorary pallbearers will be Whitney Brown, Meredith and Allison Roberts, Raymond Honza, Raymond Nekuza and nephews, Robert Jurica, Murray Strunc, Bobby, Jimmy, Marvin and Michael Salik, Rod and Bradley Young. Memorials may be made to the KJZT Scholarship Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 1884, Austin, TX 78767.
