Pine Bluff Commercial, Friday, February 11, 2000, Page 8A: Obit.—Ethel Mae Hungerford, 72, of 6412 Trinity Drive, Number 6, died February 9, 2000, at her home. She was born August 19, 1928, at San Diego, a daughter of the late Silas Tidwell and Rosalie Coker Tidwell. She attended primary and secondary schools at Sulphur Springs and graduated from Watson Chapel High School. She attended nursing school at the University of Arkansas at Monticello in 1971 and attended Southern Arkansas University in 1980. She graduated and was licensed for beauty college in Arkansas. She also graduated and was licensed for practical nursing in Arkansas. She enjoyed nursing, reading, football, fishing, baseball, cooking and worked as a licensed practical nurse from 1948 until 1971 at Davis Hospital. From 1971 until 1976 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center she was a charge nurse and then was promoted to head surgical nurse. From 1977 until 1981 she worked as an infirmary administrator for the Arkansas Department of Correction at the women’s unit. In 1981 she went to work as a field registered nurse for the Area Agency on Aging of Southeast Arkansas. She was a lifetime member of Sulphur Springs United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Easter Star, Arkansas Nursing Association, American Nursing Association, president of Arkansas State Nursing Association, member of American Red Cross and Southern States Correctional Association. Survivors include a daughter, Renee Ballard of Cordoba, Tennessee; a brother, Thomas Tidwell of Pine Bluff; three sisters, Carolyn Grimes of Deer Park, Texas, Norma Drake of West Virginia and Roma Taylor of Pine Bluff. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Saturday in Fitzhugh Cemetery with Dr. Randall Reddin officiating. Arrangements are being handled by Hale-South Funeral Home. Visitation will be form 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Sulphur Springs United Methodist Church Building Fund.
