Madge Marie Fye was the tenth and youngest child of Calvin Fye and Margaret Eby Fye. She was born in Sutherland, Nebraska, where she grew up and went to school. Madge married Benedict "Ben" Kirchen in 1925 at the age of 17. They lived in Hastings, Nebraska, and had two children -- Kenneth and Zelma. Ben and Madge divorced in 1935, and Madge married Carl Walker. In 1944 the Walker family (Carl, Madge, Ken & Zelma) moved to California, where they eventually settled in Inglewood. Carl worked for the local newspaper as a typesetter and Madge worked in retail for many years, in children's clothing stores and in fine women's clothing stores. Carl and Madge were known affectionately as "Grammie" and Grampie" to their four granddaughters. Sadly, Carl passed away in 1962. Madge later married Merle Innis in 1970, and they enjoyed life together, dancing and travelling, until Merle's death in 1987. Madge passed away less than two years later. Madge, known to her granddaughters as Grammie, had a special place in her heart for them and always made their visits a special treat. She was a fun-loving grandmother who was close to her two brothers and six sisters and her children and granddaughters.
