Pearl May Fye Hutchison Nov 14,1888-March 20,1971 Pearl May Fye was the first of ten children born to Calvin Luther Fye and Margaretta May (Eby) Fye. Pearl was born on the Calvin Fye homestead place near Sutherland, Lincoln County, Nebraska. She grew up and went to school in the Sutherland area, with her six sisters and two brothers (one brother died as an infant). Pearl’s youngest sister, Madge, was born when Pearl was 18 years old and already married. Pearl met Alonzo “Lonnie” Edward Cady in Sutherland. Lonnie was a telegrapher for the Union Pacific Railroad in Sutherland. Pearl Fye and Lonnie Cady married in Sutherland on March 20, 1907. They made their home in Sutherland and had their first two children there: Marguerite Cady, born April 5, 1908; and Carol Delight Cady, born February 10, 1910. In 1911 the Cady family moved to Laramie, Wyoming, where Lonnie’s parents, Alva and Mary (Linden) Cady lived. In Laramie, their third daughter, Alva Edith Cady, was born on July 11, 1912. Alva was named for her grandfather, Alva Brainard Cady. In the 1920’s Lonnie Cady opened a confectionery and tea shop in Laramie, and he also worked for the Union Pacific Railroad as a brakeman. Pearl worked as a clerk at Greenwood’s Jewelry Store in Sutherland. The three girls attended school in Sutherland. Sometime between 1926 and 1929, Pearl and Lonnie divorced. Both had remarried by 1930. Pearl married Hayes R. Groo, and they moved to Salt Lake City, Utah with two of Pearl’s daughters, Marguerite and Alva. Daughter Carol Cady had married Clifford Taylor in 1926, and they continued living in Laramie. Clifford Taylor died in 1937, and Carol married LeRoy Cooper in 1938. Pearl’s daughter Marguerite Cady married Horace Wilson around 1935, and her youngest daughter, Alva, married Ernest Fingerlos around 1935. Pearl’s marriage to Hayes Groo was brief, and she and her daughters moved back to Laramie before 1935. There she married Floyd Heathman sometime between 1934 and 1937. They were married until Floyd’s death in 1946 while visiting Santa Clara County, California. Pearl moved to Denver, then back to Laramie. She was briefly married to Andrew Cairns before marrying Richard T Hutchison in the 1950’s. Pearl and Richard lived in Cheyenne Wyoming until his death in 1970. Pearl then moved back to Sutherland, Nebraska, where she died a year later in 1971. Her burial was in the Sutherland Riverview Cemetery near her parents. Pearl’s gravestone shows “Pearl Hutchison.” Pearl was preceded in death by her parents, Calvin Fye (1866-1953) and Margaretta May (Eby) Fye (1867-1950). She was survived by her three daughters, and three grandsons: Hannan Wilson, William J. Taylor, and Donald Fingerlos. She was also survived by her younger siblings: Maude (Fye) Rourke (1890-1980); Florence (Fye) Lapping Coker Thompson (1893-1978); Fern (Fye) McCall; Mable (Fye) Coker (1898-1995); Harold Fye (1900-1979); Blanche (Fye) Burcham (1902-1988); Elmer “Ben” Fye (1905-1996); and baby sister Madge (Fye) Kirchen Walker Innis (1907-1989).
