John William Middleton was the son of Richard Middleton and Charity Jane Robbins Middleton. He married first to Sarah Ann "Sallie" Shotts. They had one child, Richard Francis "Frank" Middleton. John married second to Elmira Franklin. Their children were John Wesley, Lorene, Cecil George, Joseph Benjamin Franklin, Elzie L, Frances, Boyd, Julia A,Luella and Esther.
