Texas Coaster, December 1, 1949: Edward Netzel, age 70 years, passed away at his home in Rosenberg Friday afternoon, November 25, at 3:30 o'clock. Mr. Netzel was born in Austin County on August 20, 1879. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Edward Netzel of Rosenberg; three sons, Roland of Rosenberg, Floyd of Brazoria, and Verne of Brazoria; two daughters, Mrs. Rosa Lee Hafer of Richmond and Mrs. Evelyn Hein of Rosenberg; two brothers, Max Netzel of Houston and Fritz Netzel of Cat Spring; and ten grandchildren. Funeral services for Mr. Netzel were held Sunday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock from the Foerster Funeral Home, with Rev. Marvin Netzel of Houston officiating. Burial was in the Sealy Public Cemetery. Pallbearers were Ervin Netzel, Quince Thomson, Edwin Reinbenstein, Edmon Hollin, Eldrich Meier, and Gilbert Meier. Funeral services were under the direction of the Foerster Funeral Home.
