FUNERAL RITES FOR ELISHA CAMPBELL HELD WEDNESDAY Saturday afternoon, the sudden death of Elisha Campbell occurred at 3:30 just after he reached his home from a trip to town. He had been suffering with a heart complaint for some time. Mr. Campbell, who has lived in Vernal practically all his life, was a well-known contractor and builder, and until the past few years was actively engaged at his trade. His health failed several years ago. Just recently Mr. Campbell underwent a severe operation. Funeral services were held Wednesday at noon in the Vernal Second Ward Chapel with Bishop John Hair presiding and Phil Watkins conducting. There were numerous floral offering. E. J. Longhurst offered the invocation and the benediction was pronounced by J. William Workman. Three musical numbers were rendered by a special quartet consisting of Mrs. Mae Jorgensen, Mrs. Afton Ruffin, Mrs. Lela Johnson and Athur Manwaring, "Sometime We'll Understand," "Oh, My Father," and Beautiful Isle of Somewhere." Mrs. Jorgensen sang, "Lay My Head Beneath a Rose." Mrs. Mary Manwaring was accompanist. The speakers were Ernest Eaton, Fred G. Bingham, with closing remarks by Bisho Hair. The pallbearers were sons, Clyde and Martin L. Campbell, sons-in-law, Joseph Luck and sons Joseph and Lynn Luck. Interment was made in the Vernal Memorial Park under the direction of the Swain Funeral Home with Charles S. Carter dedicating the grave. Elisha Campbell, 61, the son of David Hyrum and Lizzie Ann Averett Campbell was born at Escalante, Utah, May 25, 1876. When 18 years of age he came to Ashley Valley. Mr. Campbell married Miss Nettie Winn on his birthday at Vernal. Two children were born to them, Mrs. Laura Luck and Clyde Campbell, both of Vernal. He was married a second time to Miss Etta Rogers at Myton and later divorced. In 1907 he was married to Miss Wealthy M. Hall at Vernal. From this union the following children survive, also Mrs. Campbell of Cedar City, who divorced in 1934; Manford R., Martin L., Vernal; Merle J., Oakland, California; Miss Lola Campbell, Vernal; also the following brothers. Warren and Joseph Campbell, Idaho; George Campbell, Dinosaur National Monument at Jensen; Alvero Campbell, Salem, Oregon; Thomas Campbell, Tacoma, Washington; sisters, LaVira C. Burns, Salem, Oregon; Jennie, California; Ann, Joel, Washington; Susie of Washington; also the following half brothers and sisters, David C., Escanlante; Jane Okeburry, Los Angeles; John R.
