Bio
Joe's birth name is Albert Josiah Hill. His parents are William (Doc) Hill and Louisa Elizabeth Barefield. He was nicknamed "Joe E." very early in life. All documents show him as Joe E. Hill including his death certificate. He married twice. (1) Laura Maude Stokes in Falls County, Texas. They had one son. Luie Benjamin Hill b. 27 Jun 1897. Laura died before 1906 giving birth to a second child. (2) Minnie Lee Williams on 11 Apr 1907 in Falls County, Texas. Joe and Minnie had 13 children: 1) Mildred Venuar Hill 2) J. D. Windford Hill 3) Tulsa Lee Hill 4) Gladys Oline Hill 5) Juanita Hill 6) Genevieve Hill 7) Kathryn Inez Hill 8) Joe Edward Hill 9) Walter Eugene Hill 10) Christine Hill 11) Frederick Hill 12) Pauline Hill 13) Johnnie Faye Hill He was a cotton sharecropper in Rosebud, Falls County, Texas.
