Grand Island (Nebraska) Daily Independent Friday, 12 April 1918 Obituary Miss Hedwig Bertha Wendt was born in Hall county, Neb., on March 28, 1883, and passed away at the home of her parents in Grand Island, Neb., on April 8, 1918, at the age of 35 years, 11 days. For twenty years prior to her death she was a faithful Christian and a member of the Seventh Day Adventist church. She began ailing when about seventeen years of age and had not been strong since. During the last year or two she underwent several operations in the hope of bettering her health, but to no avail. Notwithstanding her affliction, she was of a sunny disposition and showed a kind spirit to all. She leaves to mourn her loss her bereaved parents, two brothers and six sisters, as follows: Mrs. Julia Busig, Hall county, Neb.; Mrs. Theresa Roggasch, Rock county, Neb.; Mrs. Vena Sanders, Council Bluffs, Ia.; August Wendt, Hitchcock county, Neb.; Mrs. Anna Fales, New Castle, Wyo.; Miss Minnie Wendt, Grand Island, Neb.; Alfred Wendt, Hall county, Neb.; and Mrs. Martha Whitecarver, Grand Island, Neb. Funeral services were held on Thursday, April 11, Elder B. M. Garton officiating. Interment was made in the Wiggert (sic) cemetery, northeast of Grand Island. ******** Grand Island (Nebraska) Daily Independent Friday, 12 April 1918 Funeral services of Miss Bertha Wendt were held from the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. August Wendt, 411 East Third street, on Thursday morning at 9:30 o'clock and from the Seventh Day Adventist church at 10 o'clock. Elder B. H. Garton officiated. Interment was made in the Wiggert (sic) cemetery northeast of the city.
