Skalka Julia C. Janda ====================== The Fairfield Independent (Fairfield, NE), Friday, February 9, 1912; pg. 4 DEWEESE Tuesday February 6 1912 Frank G. Skalka and Julia C. Janda were married at Catholic church in Lawrence, Father Flechinger performing the seremony (sic). Henry Muzih, and Rose Janda, Jos. Jedanck and Julia Blacka and Will Secora Stella Karmazin stood up with the younp(sic) couple. A big dinner and supper was served and the guests, which were about four hundred in number spent evening in dancing. We join the many friends of this estimable young couple in wishing them a long, happy trip through this life. ======================== The Nelson Gazette (Nelson, NE), Thursday, July 11, 1963 Frank G. Skalka, 75, died Friday at the Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital. He was a retired employee at the Hastings State Hospital. He was born at Deweese. He was a member of St. Cecilia's Catholic Church and an honorary lifetime member of St. Stephens Council No 1906 of the Knights of Columbus. Surviving are his wife, Judy, a daughter, Mrs. David McAuliff of Norfolk, a son, Clement of Deweese, a sister Mrs. Alice Nejezchleb of Fairfield, five brothers, Lewis, James, Joe and Emil all of Deweese, and Adolph of Hastings, and four grandchildren. The rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Monday at the Brand Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Thomas Munk in charge. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. at the Assumption Catholic Church in Deweese. Burial will be in St. Martin cemetery (sic) at Deweese. =================== The Fairfield Auxiliary (Fairfield, NE), Thursday, July 11, 1963; pg. 1 Former Deweesan Dies at Hastings Home; Age 75 Frank G. Skalka, 75, died Friday at the Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital. He was a retired employee at the Hastings state hospital and was born at Deweese. He was a member of St. Cecilia's Catholic Church and the oldest member of the Hastings Council of the Knights of Columbus. Surviving are his wife, July (sic); a daughter, Mrs. David McAuliff, of Norfolk; a son, Clement of Deweese; a sister, Mrs. Alice Nejezchleb, of Fairfield; five brothers, Lewis, James, Joe and Emil, all of Deweese, and Adolph of Hastings, and, four grandchildren.
