Greene Prairie Press 16 January 1992 Thomas Cumby Thomas Cumby, 60, of Berdan, died late Tuesday night, Jan. 7, 1992, at Boyd Memorial Hospital in Carrollton. He was born April 2, 1931, in Pike County, the son of Frank and Rose Inman Cumby. He married Doris Schofield, Nov. 3, 1951, in Carrollton. He is survived by his wife, Doris; a son, Kevin Cumby of Savannah, Ga.; a daughter, Brenda Miller of Jerseyville; four grandchildren; two sisters Alberta Abell and Ethel Howard, both of Tampico; and two brothers, John Cumby of Rock Falls and Jimmy Cumby of De Kalb. He was preceded in death by a brother, Bill. Mr. Cumby was a Korean War veteran, Member of the Carrollton American Legion, Greene County Farm Bureau, Greene County Pork Producers and the Berdan Baptist Church. Funeral services were at 10 a.m., Friday, at the Berdan Baptist Church, with burial in the Carrollton City Cemetery. Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Carrollton was in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the Berdan Baptist Church.
