THE LAMAR COUNTY ECHO, 18 Jul 1985. 'Mrs. Nora O. Brackeen of Cherry Street Manor died there Thursday, 11 Jul 1985. Services were held Sunday, 14 Jul, in the Powderly Church of Christ with Bill O'Neal officiating. Burial was in Red Hill Cemetery by Bright-Holland Funeral Home. Mrs. Brackeen was born 26 Apr 1897, in Lamar County, a daughter of Joel and Laura Strange Frederick. She married Noah T. Brackeen on 15 Feb 1915, in Lamar County. He died 22 May 1983. She was a member of the Powderly Church of Christ. Surviving are four sons, Ward Brackeen, Mack Brackeen and Bob Brackeen, all of Texarkana, Texas, Thomas Ray Brackeen of Montgomery, Ala.; two daughters, Vivian Enloe of Paris and Lareece Maggard of Powderly; one sister, Ophelia Frederick of Powderly; 21 grandchildren; 40 great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren. A son, Lel Jay Brackeen, preceded her in death in 1982.'
