THE PARIS MORNING NEWS, Tuesday, June 5, 1917: 'Powderly Young Men Killed in Oklahoma-- Frank Frederick and Revis Frederick, who were cousins, and who were well known young men of Lamar county, their home being at Powderly, were fatally injured last Saturday afternoon in an explosions at Kiefer, OK., where they were both employed in a gas plant. One of them, Frank, was employed as an engineer, and Revis was employed as an assistant engineer. The accident was caused by the gas compressor bursting and filling the engine room with gas. In shutting the machinery down in order to stop the rush of escaping gas the switch was pulled open. This caused a spark at the switch, which exploded the gas. The young men lived several hours after the accident and died from inhaling the gas flame. Both of the young men had lived nearly all of their lives at Powderly and were nephews of ex-County Commissioner Frederick and of J. R. Frederick. Revis Frederick married a daughter of Rev. N. C. Walters of Powderly last Christmas and Frank Frederick leaves a widow and two or three children. Both of them were members of Powderly camp Woodmen of the World. The bodies were brought to Powderly on the 11 o'clock Frisco train last night and the double funeral will be held at the Long Graveyard today.' Son of Joel Campbell Frederick and Laura C. Strange Frederick. Married Nina Walters in Lamar County Book 29, p. 180. Obituary may be viewed here .
