Winnifred "Winnie" A. Shepherd Turner, 86, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to all, of Pleasant Grove, passed a-way March 8, 2002 surrounded by her family and loved ones. She was born Dec 27, 1915 in Provo Bench (Orem), UT the fifth of twelve children to John and Florence I. Pace Shepherd. Winnie married Arthur N. Turner of Pleasant Grove in the Salt Lake Temple June 22, 1933. Together they raised six children. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving in many callings including YW/MIA and Relief Society leadership, teacher, temple worker, and various music callings. She retired after 25 years as a valued employee of Alpine School District where she served as school lunch manager. She lovingly oversaw the pre-paration of thousands of hot lunches for her community's school children. She loved music, and although she never took music lessons, she was an accomplished pianist. She shared her gift freely, playing often when requested by others. Her husband, parents, four brothers, two sisters, and several grandchildren preceded her in death. She is survived by her children, Ellen (Dean) Larsen, American Fork, Harold (Judy) Turner, Ivins, Jean (Tom) Smith, Gilbert, AZ, Susanne (John) Judd, West Jordan, Patty Ann (Glenn) Trexler, Twentynine Palms, CA, Julie Turner, Orem; 41 grandchildren; 75 great-grandchil-dren; one brother and four sisters, George (Jean) Shepherd, Woodland Hills, Annie (Levi) Kitchen, Orem, Florence (Don) Draper, Pleasant Grove, Charlotte (Les) Carson, American Fork, Josephine (Roy) Tidwell, Pleasant Grove. Services will be Tues. March 12, 2002, 11 a.m., Timpanogos 1st Ward Chapel (500 N. 400 E, Pleasant Grove). Friends may call at a viewing Mon. March 11, 6-8 p.m., Olpin Family Mortuary (494 S. 300 E, Pleasant Grove) and one hour prior to services. (Printed in the Deseret News March 10, 2002)
