Bio
Florence Shepherd Draper, 86, of Pleasant Grove passed away on Friday, August 29, 2008 at her home surrounded by loving family. She was born April 3, 1922 in Orem to John and Florence Pace Shepherd. She married Don R. Draper on March 7, 1942 in Kimball, Nebraska. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. Don passed away in 2000. Florence loved her family, the church, and her neighbors. She lived a life of service and touched the lives of all those who knew her. She truly followed the admonition of the Savior to "love thy neighbor as thyself." Some of her greatest joys in life came from seeing all her sons serve missions and all of her children married in the temple. She and Don served a mission in the Idaho Falls Temple Visitors' Center. She loved doing genealogy and spent many hours of her life tracing her family heritage. She also compiled a 27 volume journal chronicling the life of her family as well as local and world events that shaped her life. She is survived by her four children: Richard D. (Barbara) Draper, Lindon; Linda Smith, American Fork; Sterling R (Joyce Ann) Draper, Kamas; Kendall J (Michelle) Draper, American Fork; 16 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; three siblings: Annie Kitchen, Orem; Charlotte Carson, American Fork and George (Jean) Shepherd, Monroe, UT. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Carson. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, September 3, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the Timpanogos Third Ward Chapel, 425 East 500 North, Pleasant Grove. Friends may call on Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Olpin Family Mortuary, 494 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove and at the Church on Wednesday one hour prior to services. Interment will be in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery. Published in the Deseret News on 8/31/2008.
