OBITUARY HOOPER – On Friday, September 25, 2009 Lawrence F. Morris beloved Father, Brother, Uncle and the title he enjoyed most was known by all his grandchildren (Papa) passed away peacefully at McKay Dee Hospital surrounded by his loved ones. Lawrence was born on March 1, 1932 in Shelley Idaho to Earl and Earlin Butler. His father Earl died when he was 18 months old. Lawrence was later adopted by his step-father Harold G. Morris. He attended school at White Knob, Idaho and Shelley, Idaho. In 1949 he joined the Army where he spent nine years including 15 months in the Korean War where he received the Bronze Star for Bravery. On August 29, 1952 he married Joan Borg. They had five children Debra Callahan of Ogden, Utah; Larry D. Morris of New Mexico, Judy Nauta of Hooper, Utah; Earl Morris of Layton, Utah; and Delbert Morris of Nordic Valley, Utah. He was a member of the Hooper Homestead Ward and was endowed in the Ogden LDS Temple on the 10th of October 2007. He started working at HAFB in 1964 as a sheet metal worker and retired in 1987. Lawrence enjoyed the outdoors and loved camping, horseback riding, snowmobiling, and taking road trips with family and friends. He especially loved spending time at his cabin in Echo Creek, Utah. Little children and animals were his greatest love and joy. He is survived by a brother, Earl Morris of Cokeville, Wyoming and his sister, Glena Wright of California, his five children, 26 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and four sisters, Gaye, Georgia, Erlin and Pearl. Funeral services will be held Friday, October 2, 2009 at 11 a.m. at the Hooper LDS Chapel, 5375 South 5900 West. Friends and family may call on Thursday at Myers Roy Mortuary, 5865 South 1900 South from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Friday at the church from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment, Hooper City Cemetery, 5360 South 6300 West. Hooper where Military Honors will be accorded.
