Bio

Henry A. Fehringer, 73, of Ster ling, died Sunday, July 21, 1996, in Sterling. Visitation is until 5 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Tennant Funeral Home, with a rosary and vigil at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Tennant. The funeral is 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church with the Rev. Robert Whipkey officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery. Mr. Fehringer was born March 9, 1923, to Bernard and Anna (Elenz) Fehringer in Peetz. He grew up and attended school there. After graduating from Peetz High School he worked for a steel mill in Utah for two years. He entered the U.S. Navy in 1945 at Oak Knoll Naval Base in California. After leaving the Navy, he farmed with his father in Peetz. He married Helen Schell on Aug. 26, 1947, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Sterling. They moved to Iliff in 1958, where he farmed and ranched until he retired and they moved to Sterling in 1993. He had also worked at the sugar factory in Sterling during the winter months for 15 years. Mr. Fehringer was a member of the Peetz Legion, Sterling Elks No. 1336, Iliff Lions, Knights of Columbus, Peetz Sacred Heart Catholic Church, St. Catherine's of luff, and St. Anthony's Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife Helen of Sterling; four sons, Gary and wife Cindy (Cook) of Sterling, Raymond of Sterling, Michael and wile Lavonne (Bower) of Aurora, and William and wife Monica (Torres) of Sterling; three daughters, Jeanette Berhost and husband Bob of Westminster, Nancy Fehringer of Lakewood, and Carol Lieber and husband Dave of Ster ling; a brother, Frank of Peetz; seven sisters, Irene Korbe of Tennessee, Berndine Gantt of Keenesburg, Theresa Koester of Akron, Christina Huss of Kenia, Alaska, Amelia Bennish of Davenport, Iowa, Darlene Tyson of Broomfield, and Helen Ellis of Sidney, Neb.; 20 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother Albert. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association or to the charity of donor's choice.
