Published in the Athens Review January 16, 1947 Funeral services for Mrs. Janette Darden, who died Sunday morning at 8:45 o'clock at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Frankie Mae Dingler, 214 Frizzell Street, after an illness of six months, were held Monday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Leagueville Baptist Church. The services were conducted by the Rev. John Duckett and the Rev. L.D. Rose. Burial was in the Leagueville Cemetery. Grandsons served as pallbearers. The Hassell and Foster Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Darden was born on October 23, 1883, at Fairview, Oklahoma, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Sam Barton, and came to the Leagueville community with her parents when she was a small girl. She resided in that community until about two years ago, when she moved to Athens. Her husband, A.A. Darden died in 1920, and was buried in the Leagueville Cemetery. Mrs. Darden had been a member of the Baptist church since childhood. Surviving are four sons; Walter A. Darden, William G. Darden of route 4, Athens, and Harton M. Darden and Jimmie A. Darden, both of Fairview, Oklahoma; three daughters, Mrs. Dee Richardson, Mrs. Bruce Richardson and Mrs. Dingler, all of Athens; one brother, F.M. Barton, Dallas; and one sister, Mrs. E.L.
