Mr. Vilam John Salik, 80, of Ennis, passed away on Sunday February 10, 2008 in Dallas. He was born in Alma Texas on February 8, 1928, to parents Emil Salik and Antonie Petruj. He was reared in Hopewell and attended Hopewell,Pear Ridge and St. John's schools. On November 6, 1948 he married Henrietta Holy and they made their home in Ennis. He was enlisted with the US Army Air Corp from 1945-1948. He worked for Chance-Vaught; Southern Pacific Railroad and was a driver for 25 years for Santa Fe Trucking. He was a member of the KJT and the American Legion., and also the WFLA. He is survived by two sons and their wives; Daniel and Barbara Salik of Ennis; and Willie Joe & Sharla Spence Salik of Ennis. One daughter, Janet Marie Ledesma of Ennis; Five sisters; Alice Whiteley of Ennis; Toni Barto of Ennis. Agnes Wilson of Ennis; Wilma Padgett of Waxahachie; and Georgia Griffin of Ft. Worth; eight grandchildren; Nikki Salik; Jeremie Salik; Bradley Salik; Rae Anne Salik; Jaysen St. Clair; Rey Ledesma; Mallorie & Spence Morton. Great Grandchildren; Britany St. Clair; Haley St. Clair; Natalie St. Clair; Layton Ledesma; Tanner Zmolik; Tate Zmolik. He was preceded in death by his wife Henrietta on July 10, 1996; one brother and three sisters. Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at St. Johns Church on Thursday at 10am. Pallbearers are Bobby Salik and Buddy Whiteley Jeremie Salik; Bradley Salik; Jaysen St. Clair; Rey Ledesma. Father Henry Drozd will officiate. Family visitation will be in the Keever Chapel Wednesday 6pm until Rosary at 7pm. Interment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery under the direction of JE Keever Mortuary.
