Toni F. Barto, 92, passed away on Friday, February 2, 2018, in Ennis, Texas. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery. Toni Francis was born in Ellis County, Texas, to the late Emil Anton Salik and Antonia Camille (Petruj) Salik. She grew up in the Hopewell community where she also attended school. On November 10, 1943, she married Daniel E. Barto at St. John’s Catholic Church in Ennis. During their 54-year marriage, they made their home in the Creechville community. While farming was a necessity for them, Toni was a skilled and talented seamstress. Her gift for sewing created a career for her working at The Cotton Shop, W.R. Storey’s and Ennis Furniture. She was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church, K.J.Z.T #16, Catholic Daughters of America-Court of Our Lady of the Bluebonnets #2268 and the Altar Society. Affectionately known as "Meme", Toni enjoyed cooking each family member’s favorite, working in her gardens, and praying the Rosary, but her greatest pleasure in life was spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her husband; a grandson, Larry Barto, Jr.; son-in-law, Raymond Jurica, Sr.; and siblings: Emil Salik, Willie Salik, Albina Salik, Alice Whiteley, Mary Ann Salik, and Lillie Ann Patak. Survivors include her daughters, Helen Jurica, of Caldwell, Texas, and Sandra Johnson and her husband, Steve, of Ennis; sons, Larry Barto and his wife, Nita, and Richard Barto, both of Ennis; grandchildren: Amy Jurica Hinnant, Raymond Jurica, Jr., Leslie Barto, Wyatt Johnson, Chadwick Johnson, and Richard Kyle Barto; great-grandchildren: Kathryn Hinnant, R.J. Jurica, III., Jasmine Barto, Nathan Barto, Paige Johnson, Luke Johnson, Mikayla Johnson, Bailey Barto, and Emma Barto; sisters: Agnes Wilson, Wilma Padgett, and Georgie Griffin; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
