Alice Mary Whiteley, 93, passed away in Ennis, Texas, on Thursday, May 28, 2015, surrounded by her loving family. Visitation will be from 4 t 6 p.m., Sunday, May 31, 2015, in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis with Rosary at 5 p.m. Mass of the Christian Burial will take place at 10 a.m., Monday, June 1, 2015, at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church with Father John Dick as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery of Ennis. Alice was born in Ennis, Texas, to the late Emil J. and Antonia (Petruj) Salik. She grew up in Hopewell and attended school in the Hopewell Schools. On July 17, 1939, she married Johnnie R. Whiteley and they made their home in Alma before moving to Ennis in 1949. She worked for Ennis Furniture and Cody Company for a short time. Her primary job was taking care of her family. She was a member of the St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church of Ennis. She enjoyed gardening and Czech music. She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnnie Whiteley; daughter, Tonie Lindley; grandsons, Eric Lindley, Paul Lindley, and Jodas Lindley; brothers, Willie Salik and Emil Salik; and sisters, Albina Salik, Mary Ann Salik, and Lillie Patak. Survivors include her sons: Johnny Whiteley and wife, Jeanie, Willie Whiteley and wife, Theresa, and Mark Whiteley and wife, Tina; daughters: Dorothy Spaniel, Joyce Whiteley, Judy Harris, Jeannie Whiteley, and Brenda Lowey and husband, Michael; 17 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; sisters: Toni Barto, Agnes Wilson, Wilma Padgett, and Georgie Griffin; along with a host of other beloved family members.
