Bio
Gary Valek passed away at his home on Saturday, January 17, 2009 at the age of 53. He was born on October 7, 1955 to Rudy and Emily Prachyl Valek. He graduated from St. John High School in 1974. He was a member of St. John Catholic Church, the KJT, KJZT, and Knights of Columbus. He worked for Southern Auto Store and Southern Pacific Railroad, retiring in 1995. Gary is survived by his mother, Emily Valek, and three sisters: Lorane Marusak, Patsy and husband Chuck Kubala and Jackie and husband, Kevin Betik. He also leaves behind seven nieces and nephews: Melissa and husband Nathan Allen, Russell Marusak, Larry Kubala, Amanda and husband John Cabrera, Jessica, Jamie, and Byron Betik, and five great nieces and nephews. Also considered a member of the family and a brother to Gary is Ronnie Honza. Gary is preceded in death by his father, Rudy, on February 23, 2008. He will be greatly missed. Services will be held on Wednesday, January 21, 2009 at St. John Church at 10 a.m. Father Garcia will officiate. Pallbeares are: Ronnie Honza, A.J. Vitovsky, Stan Zabojnik, Michael Patak, Danny Strunc, Billy Dlabaj and Eddie Zhanel. Visitation: 6 to 8pm in Keever Chapel on Tuesday, January 20, 2009 with Rosary being recited at 7 p.m. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc. Memorials can be made to the Alzheimers Association or to St. John Catholic Church.
