RUDOLPH F. VALEK, JR. (January 15, 1925 – February 23, 2008) Rudy Valek, 83, passed away on February 23 at the IOOF Nursing Home after a long struggle with Alzheimer's Disease. He was born on January 15, 1925 to parents Rudolph F. Valek, Sr. and Emilie Zabojnik Valek in Ennis, Texas. On June 5, 1948 he married Emily Prachyl. They were married for almost 60 years. Rudy was very well known and admired during his 50 years of service and dedication to the Southern Auto Store. He was a self-taught television and radio repairman which he did from his home for more than 20 years. After he retired he enjoyed spending time on his farm. He loved Czech music and spent every Sunday morning listening to the Polka Show on the radio while playing along on his trumpet, saxophone or accordion. He also had a passion for dancing and passed this love on to his children and grandchildren. He was a member of St. John Catholic Church, the KJT and the Knights of Columbus. He is survived by his wife Emily Valek of Ennis; one son and three daughters: Gary Valek, Lorane Marusak, Patsy and her husband Chuck Kubala and Jackie and her husband Kevin Betik. Seven grandchildren: Melissa and her husband Nathan Allen, Russell Marusak, Larry Kubala, Amanda and her husband John Cabrera, and Jessica, Jamie and Byron Betik. Five great-grandchildren: Haley and Nate Allen and Adriana, Matthew and Noah Cabrera. He is also survived by a brother: Joe Valek and three sisters: Theresa Vavra, Lily Thompson and Irene Tolleson as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Hedy McCoy and two brothers Henry Valek & Louis Valek. The family would like to thank Family First Hospice for their care and support throughout the years which allowed Rudy to remain at home for the majority of his illness and the IOOF Nursing Home for their loving care. Rosary will be recited Sunday, February 24, 2008 at 7:00PM in the Keever Chapel. The Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, February 25, 2008 at 2:00PM at St. John Catholic Church in Ennis. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Family First Hospice or St. John's Catholic School in Ennis.
