Bio

Dorothy was the oldest child of Ross and Ida Young Moore and was a graduate of Tyler High School in Tyler, Texas. She married Jackson "Jack" Logan Reid January 24, 1959 in Belton, Bell Co., Texas. Jack died at their home near Belton in 1968. She then married John Louis Stewart in 1970. They lived in Little River when Louis died on March 19, 1980. Dorothy then returned to live near Belton. She enjoyed sewing, shopping and traveling. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Belton and traveled extensively with their Golden Age Club. She loved to laugh and joke and was a joy to know and love. She died at age 71 on Dec 14, 1991 at her home near Belton, and is dearly missed. On the night of January 15, 1943, my Aunt, Dorothy Lee, said she awoke and saw her brother, Ross Jr., standing at the foot of her bed. She was so surprised because she knew he was stationed overseas during WWII. She said "R. Jr. what are you doing here?" He said "Soos (the family nickname for her), you're going to have to take care of mother, now, I won't be able to." She said she started to ask him what he was talking about and he was gone. It was the night that R. Jr's plane had disappeared in S. America, though the family wouldn't learn of it for two more days. She cared for her ailing widowed mother for several years before her death.
