Entered the service from Texas.
Youngest son of Ross and Ida Moore. After his graduation from Tyler High School, he followed in his older brother's footsteps and joined the Army Air Corps. Letter from the Army dated August 26, 1946: "Sergeant Gordon F. Moore...was a crew member of a B-24 (Liberator) bomber, which departed from southern Italy on 2 April 1944, on a bombardment mission to Steyr, Austria. During this mission the aircraft sustained damage, presumably from debris hurled from the collision of two other planes. As your son's plane lost altitude, apparently under control, eight parachutes were seen to leave the damaged aircraft. The name of your son appeared in the captured German records which were translated by the army air forces. These records also contained the information that your son's aircraft crashed near Rome, Italy." Gordon married Lorene Williams in Orange, Texas in August, 1943. They had no children. Service No. 18155756, 717th Bomber Squadron, 449th Bomber Group, Heavy
