Obituary from the Ashland Gazette "Rites Conducted For Paul Curtis Rudiger" "Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, Oct. 19, at 2:00 p.m. at the Memphis Methodist church for Paul Curtis Rudiger, 74, who died at the Lutheran hospital in Omaha Sunday, Oct. 16. Rev. Walter E. Neth, pastor, was in charge. Burial was made in the Ashland cemetery. Mr. Rudiger was born in Leisnig, Saxony, October 16, 1875 [sic], the son of Herman Frederick and Anna Rudiger. At the age of 11 he came to America and settled with his relatives in Ithaca. He was united in marriage to Miss Minerva Powers, August 23, 1893. Ten [eleven] children were born to this union. Following their marriage, the Rudigers settled in Memphis where he was a forman for the Armor Packing house. After the plant closed they worked on the farm until retiring. Following Mrs. Rudiger's death Mr. Rudiger lived with his children in Omaha. The family belonged to the Methodist church in Memphis. Mr. Rudiger is survived by his children: Gladys L. Bryan, Omaha; Lawrence Arthur, Clay Center; Glenn Curtis, Bell, Calif.; Charles Henry, Omaha; Irene May Shongo [sic], Fort McCoy, Florida; Evelyn Alpha Tomonio, Omaha; James Albert, Sterling, Ill.; Georgia Alberta Olson, Bell, Calif.; and Donald Hugo of Omaha. One sister, Minnie, and one brother, Max of Germany and 24 grandchildren and two great grandchildren are also left to mourn his death. Pallbearers were: Wm. Grauerholz, Charles Stransky, Harold Grauerholz, Dion DeFoil, Otto Quass and Brock Smith. Mrs. Alvin Frederickson, Mrs. Lester J. Schulz and Mrs. Brock Smith sang, 'Abide With Me,' and 'Open My Eyes.' Pianist was Mrs. Wm. McInerney."
